LAGOS FASHION AND DESIGN WEEK 2017 – REVIEW / VLOG

It’s such a dream that the lagos fashion and design week 2017 has come and gone , but the experience and memories remain fresh and valid-it was a good one trust me .

From location to execution and the shows…Awesome!!!

LOCATION /AMBIENCE /HOSPITALITY

The event was held at the HLFDW tent ,Eko Atlantic City lagos , when I first heard about the venue change , I sincerely had my reservations and I was kind of sceptical having attended Lagos Fashion and design week for 4years back to back and remembering the experiences I just wasn’t ready for any venue change (maybe because i’ve sort of adjusted and planned my mind for federal palace hotel as usual .

Anyway I was pleasantly surprised and couldn’t stop praising team lagos fashion and design week for this new change, first of all the parking of cars was such an experience compared to the suffering that the former location provided (I usually end up parking outside the venue with the risk of car vandalization)

The venue also was so picturesque that every photo whether lifestyle or otherwise ended up so lit – Every bloggers dream right …

The tents were strategically placed although I feel like the first one where the Master classes held was poorly air conditioned (or maybe too many people and things going on in there at the same time!

I enjoyed and loved the creators lounge initiative by the Assembly and Newton&David although I feel like the space could be a little bigger so it could accommodate more creators at once and encourage better networking and flow of ideas and discussions!!!

The other two tents where the show held and the VIP lounge lived up to and beyond expectations!!!!

Finger Foods was a welcome idea this year and it was so good and greatly priced until day 4 where all the vendors whom a lot of us already loved were no where to be found except for some guy from a popular lagos based finger foods company parading with a tray of kebab for what I think was a ridiculous price!!!

THE SHOWS

Day 1

On day 1 I didn’t get to see a lot of the shows because we didn’t even know the show had started because a lot of us didn’t get the memo yet that lfdw was totally changed and revamped and no more late business as usual!!

Timing was totally on point . Presentation, execution was a great improvement from last year save for a little light issue which didn’t take long at all to fix and everything went back to normal and we watched a few shows till I left because I had my son Adam with me.

I had planned to vlog all through the 4 days of the event but unfortunately i could only do day 1 Vlog before my phone got stolen and all my other videos gone .I have attached it below for your viewing pleasure ..

 

Day 2

Would have been my favorite day till my phone got stolen just as we were leaving the tent after the shows !!!Till now I can’t seem to wrap it my head around what happened . Its safe to say day 2 was a blur for me and I don’t want to relieve the memory ….

 

Day 3

I almost didn’t attend because of my lost phone because I just lost my zeal to do anything considering the amount of content I had lost in my phone (pictures ,videos ,etc) which contributed to how late this post is!!!. i eventually attended, and it was awesome , the highlight was having the legend photographer Kelechi Amadi-Obi take my pictures in the VIP lounge which went viral and received great comments and compliments that sort of lifted my mood a bit!!

Day 4

I came to slay with my boys on this day and the memory will not fade quickly. Unfortunately I couldn’t stay till the end of the shows talk-less of the after party because I needed to get home to tuck the boys in bed , Asher was already tired and sleepy by 7.30 pm…

 

 

Overall I think this year wasn’t just an improvement, it was a total LEAP and I must say well-done team Lagos fashion and design week 2017,you guys did an amazing job and I hope next year will even be a lot better. Also I see an awesome growth and improvement with the designs , garment finishings and wearability of pieces that were showcased this year .
